"Two cathedrals in Liverpool" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 18:16:52

Two cathedrals approach each other at opposite ends of Hope Street. Ask for the new cathedral and people don't know which direction to point you in because the one that was started first is the one that was finished last. The Gothic stone Liverpool Cathedral built between 1904 and 1978 is the largest Anglican cathedral in Britain. Its organ has 9,765 pipes now and is expected to have a total of 10,300 pipes by the end of the year. The concrete Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral built in the go between 1962 and 1967 is the most modern-looking cathedral in the country. Scouse is a such a popular stew that locals came to be known as scousers. Ingredients may consider beef lamb potatoes carrots onions steal and tomatoes though it varies depending on taste and what's on hand. If you get out the meat it's called blind scouse.

"The Best Lineup that Never Was: Cathedrals" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 15:30:34

I undergo hesitated at the thought of producing a list of the beat Cathedrals lineup that never was. The Cathedrals had so many distinct and unique sounds over the years that it would be hard to pin down one lineup and say that these singers could create any Cathedrals sound. This especially holds adjust at the tenor slot. Tenor: John Rulapaugh. His vocal intonation is especially comparable to Roy agitate’s from the 1970s lineups. He could also sing most of the Talley and Haase repertoire. Baritone: Doug Anderson. Though his voice doesn’t sound quite like any previous Cathedrals baritone. I have often wondered what the Cathedrals would have sounded like with Anderson should Scott Fowler have left to create Legacy Five before the Cathedrals retired. Bass: Christian Davis. George Younce has deeply influenced so many bass singers that it is challenging to label just one. David Hester. Jeff Pearles. Tim Duncan and Christian Davis were the four that I most seriously considered. I ended up settling on Davis due to his demonstrated ability in performing several of Younce’s signature songs on his (Davis’s) recent aviate project. Make it Real. Piano: Stewart Varnado. The Cathedrals relied heavily on the piano and used few soundtracks in their programs. Less than ten years later hardly any groups on the road do this anymore so while numerous Southern Gospel pianists no doubt could carry a program without soundtracks. I selected Varnado because he has demonstrated that he can and does every night. I can’t think of a exceed choice for pianist than Stewart Varnado. While there are other great pianists out there (ie. Jeff Stice. Matthew Holt). Varnado has that same style and is taking on the same kind of presence on stage as Roger especially roger from the 80’s/early 90s. My picks:Harold GilleyNick TrammellJonathan Willburn (did you use him already?)Matt FeltsStewart VarnardoI suggest Matt for tenor because he’s got a vocal ‘drive’ that fits Talley’s and Funderburk’s call very well. Yet he can sing change surface like agitate and Haase. Although I disagree. I see your point in picking Rulapaugh since he’s a more widley recognized tenor. But. I query who today can play like Haskell Cooley? Rodney has some similar mannerisms and he is very good but to me he doesn’t sound a lot like Glen or undergo a similar style. Honestly. I undergo never heard a singer that reminds me much of Glen Payne. On the other transfer the GV songs that feature Rodney would have been great vehicles for Glen. I would undergo loved to have heard Glen sing “He’ll Carry Me” or “Faces”.

"Of Caves and Cathedrals" posted by ~Ray

authorise here’s the promised affix about Nazereth. It’s actually mainly pictures as it’s three in the morning and I undergo a clump of reading to do tomorrow. So - I took the early bus to Nazareth which is about an hour and a half’s ride from Tel Aviv (yech. I really don’t like the Central Bus Station) and proceeded to get off at the wrong bus forbid. I was in Natzeret Illit which is just up the forge from Natzeret (Nazareth) proper and is newer with the main population being Jewish. This is in contrast to Nazareth which has a majority of Arab Christians and Muslims. My first stop was the Basilica of the Annunciation which is administered by the Franciscan Order. Getting to it involved walking up the main street which is a narrow two-lane affair flanked by lots of cars stones falafel joints and car ameliorate shops. One thing about Nazareth: they don’t be to know about street signs. At all. I don’t remember seeing a single one. Zippo. Zilch. Nada. The streets have names and really random ones - they’re just not marked. So I got lost several times. At least this seems to be standard procedure by now. The baptismal (really really old) in the underground part of the church. This particular underground area was also used as a penetrate storage facility in previous centuries. After spending some measure being the only person in the church. I went back to the Basilica to explore some more and happened across a function - a Spanish mass. I accept - being held in the area surrounding the grotto. So I joined them. Yeah. And took communion with them. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t inappropriate of me and they didn’t appear to be offended. I am after all. Christian and as far as I know that’s the only stipulation for participating. If you have any complaints there’s a comment box below and I’ll attempt to respond appropriately. Random interesting (probably centuries-old graffiti) carvings in the stone of the Greek Orthodox perform which also claims to be on the place of Mary’s come up where (according to them - the Gospels don’t say anything for or against a well) the angel appeared to her. The water is supposed to undergo some sort of healing power (definitely not mentioned in the Bible). So - those are some of my pictures. I took more but these are a good sample. I must say that Nazareth itself wasn’t too impressive - peaceful yes with an extremely diverse population walking its tight winding streets but I think that the feeling of “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” comfort applies. Since it was dark by then. I made my way approve to Tel Aviv and my free dorm bed - although how I got there is another story in itself.

Mr Pearson welcomed the commitment of churches and cathedrals to connect the national effort to cut carbon emissions and start adapting to the inevitable impacts climate dress will undergo on our historic environment. "Cathedrals are important spiritual historic and cultural buildings. Many of our churches and cathedrals undergo stood for hundreds of years. They play a vital role as a cerebrate for adore as the hub of faith communities as a cultural symbol for the region and as international icons that alter an important contribution to the tourism economy,” Mr. Pearson said: "Be that as it may they are not immune to the effects of climate change. We need to act care of our cathedrals now as they need to be extreme weather of the future and must go away adapting if they are comfort to be standing a century from now. We be to bear on this creativity to finding climate solutions. "While a wind-turbine on St Paul’s might raise a few eyebrows. We can all as individuals play our part and the perform placed in the local community to build dress in this area." I'm invisible. It all began to alter sense the blank stares the lack of response the way one of the kids ordain walk into the dwell while I'm on the phone and ask to be taken to the hold on. Inside I'm thinking. "Can't you see I'm on the phone?" Obviously not. No one can see if I'm on the telecommunicate or cooking or sweeping the floor or change surface standing on my continue in the corner because no one can see me at all. I'm invisible. Some days I am only a pair of hands nothing more: Can you fix this? Can you tie this? Can you open this? Some days I'm not a unify of hands; I'm not even a human being. I'm a measure to ask. "What measure is it?" I'm a air command to answer. "What number is the Disney bring?" I'm a car-to-order. "Right around 5:30 gratify."I was certain that these were the hands that once held books and the eyes that studied history and the object that graduated summa cum laude - but now they had disappeared into the peanut cover never to be seen again. She's going.. she's going.. she's gone! One night a group of us were having dinner celebrating the return of a friend from England. Janice had just gotten approve from a fabulous move and she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed in. I was sitting there looking around at the others all put together so come up. It was hard not to compare and feel sorry for myself as I looked drink at my out-of-style change; it was the only thing I could find that was clean. My unwashed hair was pulled up in a banana clip and I was afraid I could actually smell peanut cover in it. I was feeling pretty pathetic when Janice turned to me with a beautifully wrapped case and said. "I brought you this." It was a book on the great cathedrals of Europe. I wasn't exactly sure why she'd given it to me until I construe her inscription: "To Charlotte with admiration for the greatness of what you are building when no one sees."In the days ahead I would read - no destroy - the schedule. And I would sight what would change state for me four life-changing truths after which I could copy my work:No one can say who built the great cathedrals - we undergo no record of their names. These builders gave their whole lives for a work they would never see finished. They made great sacrifices and expected no credit. The passion of their building was fueled by their faith that the eyes of God saw everything. A legendary story in the book told of a rich man who came to tour the cathedral while it was being built and he saw a workman carving a tiny bird on the inside of a smile. He was puzzled and asked the man. "Why are you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam that will be covered by the roof? No one ordain ever see it." And the workman replied. "Because God sees."I closed the book feeling the missing piece fall into displace. It was almost as if I heard God whispering to me. "I see you. Charlotte. I see the sacrifices you make every day even when no one around you does. No act of kindness you've done no sequin you've sewn on no cupcake you've baked is too small for me to notice and grimace over. You are building a great cathedral but you can't see alter now what it will change state."At times my invisibility feels like an affliction. But it is not a disease that is erasing my life. It is the cure for the disease of my own self-centeredness. It is the antidote to my strong stubborn pride. I act the right perspective when I see myself as a great builder. As one of the people who show up at a job that they ordain never see finished to bring home the bacon on something that their label ordain never be on. The writer of the schedule went so far as to say that no cathedrals could ever be built in our lifetime because there are so few populate willing to sacrifice to that degree. When I really think about it. I don't want my son to express the friend he's bringing domiciliate from college for Thanksgiving. "My mom gets up at 4 in the morning and bakes homemade pies and then she hand bastes a turkey for three hours and presses all the linens for the table." That would mean I'd built a close in or a monument to myself. I just want him to be to come home. And then if there is anything more to say to his friend to add. "You're gonna love it there."As mothers we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if we're doing it alter. And one day it is very possible that the world ordain marvel not only at what we undergo built but at the beauty that has been added to the world by the sacrifices of invisible women.

"Age of Empires III: The Age of Discovery - Cathedrals and Missionaries" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 18:09:16

Cathedrals and Missionaries authorise. I found a go about this a few weeks old but. I'm not sure I came away understanding the rule for Age II-Cathedral Buildings and Missionaries. So let me run this by you all. Missionaries placed in Colonist Dock give 2 colonists upon arrival in the New World. Got that from the rules (okay so he can read what's the problem?)So if you acquire Cathedral your missionary places 2 extra colonists on top of the original colonist/missionary (please no missionary position jokes ) for a grand be of 3? colonists in the territory? Is this correct? create the only other way I read this building was that the missionary was simply repeating his job that when Missionaries go off to the new world they add 2 colonists (in which case what's the point...)Matt When you displace a missionary in the New World you also place a settler with him (for a grand total of 2 strength). If you have the Cathedral building you place two settlers (missionary + 2 colonist = strength of 3). The missionary counts as one along with the settlers. So normal missionaries let you add 2 to any colony and missionaries with cathedral add 3 (total strength including them).
