Every year from about the end of summer hols E starts talking about what she’s going to wear to the Halloween Disco. It’s usually something that sounds very tricky to alter and then she ends up being a witch or a fairy!
This year she wanted to be a mermaid!! So after talking about the difficulties of dancing with a follow we open a pattern remembered some shell fabric we’d seen in a shop about 20 miles away and had this in mind to make.
What happened next is that Tesco put out their racks of cheap costumes and E decides - along with many others girls in the country and certainly at her school disco - that she’ll be a purple and black goth witch instead. I’m just glad I hadn’t wasted time cutting out the mermaid copy yet nor driven the 20 miles to buy the expensive fabric. I’m sure the pattern will go in handy another year.
Anyway I did get to alter her a special bag to direct her money and sweeties on the night. I wanted it to look desire a bag and after a few drawings we came up with this. Made in a bring together of hours this morning and we’re both very pleased with it. I desire to evaluate it adds an individual touch.
As come up as the disco we just found out that riding school is holding a Halloween fun day. conceive of change required! She can’t wear a becharm dress (or a mermaid tail) on a pony so we’ve had to think of something else. It needs to be something she can wear on top of her riding clothes and either act on or easily take off for the trek.
What we’ve come up with is a pumpkin furnish using lots of orange fleece. Not made up yet but the intend is to make up a hat adjoin and a tabbard with the orange fleece with scary pumpkin faces made with black fleece. No hems needed and we’ll probably use fabric attach for the faces. This might get made today depending on how fed up I get with the ironing. Fleece is great isn’t it? I query how many mums are on their knees cutting out kid sized pumpkin shapes this pass!
Thanks for taking the measure to displace by and comment. While reading your blog. I saw mention of Tesco and realized that you are not in the US but in the UK. My sister lives come Milton Keynes about an hour north of London. Her MIL is from Glasgow. At least I think it’s Glasgow. That’s where Gran is. I believe.
