Meses después en junio de 1983 me pude ver a pantalla grande en el cine Gran Vía situada en la ídem madrileña y se me saltaron las lágrimas al ver mi nombre en pantalla. Desgraciadamente unos hechos acontecidos a finales de 1986 y rematados en agosto de 1987 pusieron fin a la amistad con el realizador y protagonista de esta película. Latidos de pánico fue una pena pero yo no fui en ningún modo el responsable del conflicto pese a dos individuos que me suelen insultar en los foros de Mundo DVD a los que eché de mi vida por ser pésimos compañeros. Durante 20 años me negué a ver nada de ese señor que me trató tan mal ni siquiera pronuncio su nombre recurriendo siempre a motes y silogismos cuando debo referirme a su augusta persona. La peli en cuestión vista ahora ya que acostumbre ver una o dos películas cada noche antes de irme a dormir me ha parecido tremendamente ingenua como una que acabo de ver de Luis Lucía con Rocío Durcal (Canción de juventud) pero ésta al menos tenía gracia y es simpática. Por cierto el realizador Lucía también era de armas tomar y mucha gente le dio de lado porque no podía soportarle personalmente. Pero hoy no vamos hablar de nada negativo. &#191;para qué? Latidos de pánico tiene por otra parte para mí maravillosos recuerdos. Estaba Julia Saly que era amiga mía. Es un escándalo que ningún festival de cine fantástico le haya hecho un homenaje como se merece. Sólo en Transylvania Express intenté hacerle algo de justicia y después en un dossier de L' Ecrán Fantastique y de aquel libro del que guardo amargo recuerdo. La historia del cine fantástico español. En el reparto estaba la guapísima Pat Ondiviela entonces inexperta actriz aunque parece ser que no funcionara demasiado bien en la gran pantalla. Recuerdo con verdadera nostalgia al gran amigo que fue Augusto Boué jefe de producción y que aquí hace una breve aparición en la escena del entierro. José Vivó y sobretodo Lola Gaos eran dos excelentes personas que fueron tratados de forma muy injusta por la industria del cine español. De Lola se ha dicho que era muy roja comunista extrema pero digan lo que digan era muy buena mujer. La mansión que sirve de decorado de esta película estaba en Valdelafuente (Madrid) un pabellón de caza que perteneció al Generalísimo Franco heredado por un nieto y administrado por el Marqués de Villaverde. Todo el pabellón estaba repleto de pinturas y fotografías del anterior Jefe de Estado y los atrecistas las retiraban para sustituirlas por pinturas y fotos de "ese señor" que nunca nombro el gran "icono" del fantástico. Lola se pasaba todo el rodaje cuando no le tocaba salir en el mapó en recorrer todas las habitaciones para curiosear y no paraba de repetir: "&#161;pero cómo vivían esos cabrones!". No hace falta añadir que me hacía mucha gracia. Había además una tienda montada fuera del chalet donde íbamos a comer los manjares de un cocinero un tanto chapuza. Cuando estábamos en el comedor. Pat Ondiviela me preguntaba: "&#191;Está bueno?" y yo le actía sin pestañear "Eso es un auténtico sabotaje culinario". Pat se quedaba perpleja por mi forma de expresarme. Latidos de pánico fue a pesar de todo un recuerdo feliz. El segundo día de rodaje el último de la película fue un 31 de diciembre y me pasé la nochevieja en un expreso de regreso a Reus. Podría haber sido el inicio de una etapa hermosa en mi existencia pero todo se truncó no se sabe porqué intereses. Me podría vengar contando que en la escena en la que el que nunca nombro y yo salíamos juntos se tuvo que poner unas alzas grandiosas para que no le empequeñeciera dada la gran diferencia de estatura pero ya se sabe que la venganza es mala para el corazón. En la película Julia Saly es una mujer adinerada aquejada de una gravísima enfermedad separateíaca que le lleva a la tumba en la actualidad soy yo quien tiene el corazón gravemente dañado y que vive cada día de su vida como si fuera el último. Es el personaje con el cual me he identificado más. Ese saber que la tumba te está esperando para guardar tus cenizas y darle así una gran alegría a esos falsos forofos del fantástico que basan su afición en el fanatismo. Que desahoguen su odio si así lo desean en los susodichos foros y organicen ridículos festivales dedicados al autobombo. Me importan un bledo todas sus bravuconadas de taberna y su estrechez mental. Lo importante es vivir lo que me resta de vida haciendo lo que me hace feliz aunque parece que se me está escapando y que pronto dejaré de tener un mañana.
