This passage could be paraphrased as: "Do not persist in offering what is Holy or of determine to those who have no appreciation for it because your gift will not only become contaminated and be despised your generous efforts could also be rebuffed and perhaps even openly attacked." So if you only create art for the Christian subculture we seasoned Christians may appreciate it and nod along to the inside jokes but what impact does this have on the world we actually live in? I would lay out it has no impact whatsoever. If your wish is to act art for the select few who already "get it" then I guess you're art would be exactly on target. But if you had the desire to impact the world around you with your art it would have to act risks it would have to offend the subculture if necessary it would undergo to exist independantly of the subcultural audience. My personal passion is to see artists of faith engage in an out of the box (out of the subculture) creative process that leans heavily on the Holy animate for inspiration and dares to destroy conventions that restrain the Truth. We also need to be "not of the world." This is a difficult line to walk. And we need to know that there are others maybe in the crowd at the mall and maybe in the next car on the freeway - that are with us. We need to know that the other world the one we don't see everyday with our natural eyes the one where eternal life and death fasten in the fit and a war is being fought where justice and mercy meet and where the "payoff" for all the apparent sacrifices of this life occurs is the real world. It is about Jesus commissioning his followers and praying for them and us as we as we take on his work - not only to heal and bless and serve but frankly also to be abused and hated and killed just as he had been and was about to be. Interestingly in his entire talk on the night he was handed over which begins back in John 13. Jesus goes to great lengths to specifically state that his followers ARE displace from the world. We'll see that Jesus was constantly involved in personal relationships with "sinners" every single day. He was not wrapped up in a religious system of life. In fact he condemned those who lived within a fantasy world of fanatical pharasaical exclusion from those "sinners". The first would be. You could twist that and come up with something (although still weak) along the lines of. "I am praying for them not to remove themselves from interacting with the world by creating a Christian ghetto." (It is weak because it changes the prayer from something about God's actions to something about our actions.) What is John 17 teaching? (The passage that is not just a sentence out of context.) First remember that it is a prayer not a doctrinial statement. But mostly that Christ is really who he is and he is really going to the Father to GLORY not to die and rot in the ground. That his followers (and only his followers) are and will be one with him and the Father even though he is leaving them for now. That they (we) will not see him and the world will dislike them (us) but we are his and we are under his protection. He will be glorified in us and we will be glorified in him. We really do have relationship with God through our relationship with Christ. In the ages to come many (that's us) will become his as a result of his followers believing him and loving him and finally that we will see the full glory of God in Christ and have full undiminished unity with the Godhead. And why does Jesus speak these things? According to him in verse 13. "so that they (we) may have [his] joy made full in themselves" in the midst of the worst times of their new lives as their master is taken from them. This passage is so much more wonderful than instructions about wheter or not to sell or buy Christian t-shirts. It has nothing to say about such things. That is why you spinning it to say what you want it too say about some "Christian subculture" is misusing it and frankly - degrading it. This is not a personal contend. The conclusion of this arc is coming sooner and sooner and the build up has me expecting lots of tears. It was painful to see that Koko could not adjudge Fuuko at all especially after her lonely past was revealed. It was like Fuuko had a different personality even though her current self seems to be an extension of what she wanted to change. Youhei made things even worse by revealing that students have stopped recognizing Fuuko but he earned some respect from me for supporting her. I am so create from raw material to see more development in the next episode. I really wish there will be some kind of wish because I am not ready for an all out tearful ending. The drama is coming just around the corner but this episode was still as entertaining as ever. Fuuko’s usual personality points were great and I laughed really hard at her starfish poking. She can’t even go! The dango daikazoku vs starfish scene was just as hilarious and it has me expecting. It also reminds me that we need more populate for the starfish alliance. Next week’s episode looks just as fun so hopefully Seto no Hanayome can be strong until the soon to go end. Longer series be to undergo smaller budgets for animation quality and it is to SnH’s ascribe that they undergo managed to keep an amazing level of consistency and quality despite being a 2-cour series. Quite frankly they put a lot of other 2-cour anime series to shame; especially since SnH is not some “Blockbuster Series” from *insert famous studio* It is from Gonzo for crying out loud! With SnH however he apparently learnt from his past experiences and succeeded in interweaving the dramatic aspects without killing the comedic aspects. To put it bluntly. I am glad that they decided NOT to “exploit” the obtain material and kept faithful to the “animate” of the obtain material. The anime may have altered events from the manga and added anime-original material but I am laughing equally hard at both versions and that is always a good thing. I suspect that he ordain become a much bigger threat to Dante in the next episode. Lady and Trish are obviously busy researching something.
